Coming Up

Training at the University of Tarragona came first for Ester Nin; Priorat came next. At Mas Martinet in Priorat, from 2000, she worked in a region known for difficult terrain and demanding standards. She later became viticulturist at Clos i Terrasses in Priorat, where close observation of vines and sites sat at the center of the job. That discipline became part of the foundation for her own projects. Today, Ester is founder of Nit de Nin of Nit de Nin (since 2003) and co-founder / winemaker under the Familia Nin-Ortiz label of Familia Nin-Ortiz (since 2007). Those two ventures track the move from vineyard work to production, while keeping the same attention to place that marked her earlier years in Priorat.

Where They Are Now

At Clos i Terrasses in Gratallops, her current role is viticulturist. The stated craft note for that work is biodynamic cultivation, a method that depends on close, repetitive work in the vineyard. Within that frame, the wines most directly named are Clos Erasmus and Laurel, both central to her present-day profile.

The clearest recognition tied to her Clos i Terrasses work appears in Clos Erasmus, the first wine of Clos i Terrasses and the wine that became the first from Priorat to receive 100 Parker points. That milestone places her work inside the larger rise of Priorat: exacting vineyard practice, patient winemaking, and reputation earned over time.
