Since 2011, Eugenio Palumbo has served as director and head winemaker of Vietti, where the cellar work sits at the center of the estate’s technical and stylistic direction. Where They Are Now

The cellar language around Palumbo’s work is compressed into four terms: “Intense though elegant, balanced, and terroir-distinct.” As a working description, it points to decisions made for clarity and structure, not volume. The focus is on expression without excess, on keeping the wines legible to their origin while preserving depth and polish. Under that logic, the wines are built to carry identity cleanly, with restraint used as a tool rather than an aesthetic slogan.

Eugenio's signature wines include Raa, Barolo Lazzarito, 2021 Derthona Timorasso, 2006 Barolo Riserva ‘San Giuseppe’, and 1996 Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill. Read together, they show a cellar perspective that can move across styles without losing coherence. Raa and Barolo Lazzarito point to the estate’s seriousness; 2021 Derthona Timorasso brings a sharper register of freshness and precision; 2006 Barolo Riserva ‘San Giuseppe’ carries the additional weight of time; and 1996 Pol Roger Sir Winston Churchill widens the field of reference. Different wines, same operating principle: control, detail, and attention to what each bottle is asked to say.
