i. Biography
Faustino García Vásquez is an Oaxacan mezcal producer from San Baltazar Chichicapam, Oaxaca, best known as the palenquero behind Del Maguey’s Chichicapa expression. He is a Zapotec palenquero who works alongside his son, Maximino García, and Chichicapa was one of the first two expressions the company brought to the U.S.. The mezcal is made from local Espadín agave and has become a benchmark single-village mezcal recognized by spirits publications and retailers.
