The Climb

Bocconi University gave Veronesi the academic base for a career built around enterprise and the management of businesses with a strong sense of place. Since 2012, Signorvino has been part of that portfolio through his co-founding role, bringing him into a sector where wine is shaped not only by production, but by retail, hospitality, and the language around the bottle. That trajectory now runs through two Chief Executive Officer positions: Oniwines and, since 2024, Villa Bucci in Ostra Vetere. The throughline in Veronesi’s path is movement without severing continuity. The work is about growth, but also about the discipline needed to keep a house, label, or territory legible as it changes. In wine, that means knowing how to invest and modernize without flattening the history that gives the work its meaning.

Today

Oniwines and Villa Bucci in Ostra Vetere are the current centers of Veronesi’s work, with the latter role beginning in 2024. He has framed that appointment in terms of continuity rather than replacement: “For us, it will be an honor and a great commitment to continue what Ampelio Bucci has managed to build up to today.” The language is that of stewardship, where the responsibility is to carry a structure forward without pretending it begins with you. His position on Italian winemaking is direct: “Although we come from a different sector, we have embraced the desire to promote and invest seriously and importantly in Italian winemaking, which definitely needs novelty and a lot of energy.” The emphasis is on seriousness and energy in equal measure, with investment treated as part of the work, not a substitute for it. Agriculture, in his words, is where that attitude has to show up on the ground. “We will work our vineyards respecting this generous and unique territory, without the use of chemical herbicides, as a consequence of what should now be a ‘normal’ approach to agriculture.” The point is practical: the territory leads, and the method has to answer to it.
