Fernando Caballero Cruz is a maestro palenquero associated with San Pedro Teozacoalco, Oaxaca, where he produces Del Maguey’s Papalome mezcal in a traditional style using a stainless-steel pot still with a clay condenser and bamboo tubing. He is one of the palenqueros for Papalome, and Difford’s Guide notes he is known locally as “El Bigote.”.
