i. Biography
François-Louis Cailler was a Swiss chocolatier and entrepreneur born in Vevey in 1796 who founded Cailler in 1819, widely described as the first modern Swiss chocolate brand and the oldest still in existence. He is a pioneer of Swiss chocolate production, including the first Swiss factory at Corsier-sur-Vevey and the early use of chocolate in bar/tablet form. He died in Corsier-sur-Vevey in 1852.
