George T. Stagg

George T. Stagg was a 19th-century Kentucky distiller and businessman born December 19, 1835, in Garrard County, Kentucky. He purchased the O.F.C. Distillery in 1878, later served as president of E.H. Taylor, Jr. & Co. alongside Taylor, and helped build the enterprise into one of the leading bourbon producers of its era. The distillery was renamed the George T. Stagg Distillery in 1904–1907 in honor of his role in its growth.
