Gerardo Vázquez Lugo

Gerardo Vázquez Lugo is a Mexican chef and the executive chef of Nicos in Mexico City’s Clavería neighborhood, where he joined the family restaurant in 1996 after training as an architect. He leads Nicos’ traditional Mexican cooking program and has been associated with the restaurant’s long-running recognition in Latin America’s 50 Best Restaurants, including the Diners Club Lifetime Achievement Award shared with his mother, María Elena Lugo Zermeño. His work is closely tied to preserving regional Mexican recipes and promoting a socially responsible, local-sourcing approach to cuisine.
