At Viña Pérez Cruz in Paine, the technical direction and head winemaking have been carried by Germán Lyon from the outset, shaping the project as it took form rather than arriving after the fact. Lyon’s own name—Germán Jackman Lyon—may invite a certain reading, but the work is much more direct than the line suggests: Chilean identity, technical discipline, and a long assignment to a single project. Training at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile and later at the National Superior Agronomic School of Montpellier gave that work its technical base. The education sits behind the role, not above it: study made practical through repetition, patience, and the daily decisions that accumulate into style. Since 2001, Lyon has remained Technical Director and Head Winemaker at Viña Pérez Cruz, and since 2012 he has also been winemaker and co-founder of LOF, extending the same method into a second project.
