i. Biography
Jay Johnston is a Canadian winemaker associated with Ontario’s Niagara wine region, including Hidden Bench Estate Winery in Beamsville and later Ravine Vineyard Estate Winery in St. Davids. He worked as associate winemaker at Hidden Bench from 2009 to 2012, became winemaker there in 2017, and was later identified as head winemaker at Ravine Vineyard Estate Winery. His work is focused on terroir-driven, small-lot wines and estate vineyards in the Niagara region.
