i. Biography
Jean-Michel Comme is a French agricultural engineer, oenologist, and viticulturist who served as the Régisseur and Technical Director of 1855 Grand Cru Classé Château Pontet-Canet in Pauillac from 1989 to May 2020. During his 31-year tenure alongside proprietor Alfred Tesseron, Comme spearheaded the estate's complete conversion to biodynamic viticulture, leading Pontet-Canet to achieve Biodyvin and Demeter certifications alongside multiple 100-point critical vintages. Outside Pauillac, he co-owns and manages the biodynamic estate Château du Champ des Treilles and operates Comme Consulting, advising wine estates internationally.
