i. Biography
Jean-Pierre Bertrand is the current winemaker and proprietor of Domaine Grand Nicolet in Rasteau, in France’s southern Rhône Valley. The estate’s official history says he discovered viticulture in 1989, joined the Leyraud family’s work, and has continued the family tradition since Bernard and Maurice Leyraud retired in 1999. He was elected co-president of the Rasteau appellation in 2017 and is also identified as a vigneron/gérant for the domaine.
