The Path

Roseworthy College gave Jeffrey Grosset the technical base for a career built on precision. That training shows up in the way the work is framed: detail matters, and structure is treated as seriously as aroma or length. Since 1981, Grosset has been the winemaker of Grosset Wines, and that long tenure has shaped a style marked by consistency, restraint, and a clear point of view held across vintages.

The Work Today

Riesling remains central to the work at Grosset. Jeffrey Grosset has made that focus explicit: “People associate me with Riesling and I’m fine with that.” The line is useful because it describes the position exactly. In his hands, Riesling is treated not as a specialty corner of the list, but as a grape with the range and seriousness to stand beside the best-known varieties. His own aim, as he has said, has been to change how the grape is understood. The result is winemaking that stays exacting without calling attention to itself, with balance and structure doing the work.

Signature

The signature wines associated with Jeffrey Grosset are Polish Hill Riesling, Springvale Riesling, Gaia Cabernet Sauvignon, and Watervale Riesling. Together they show the scope of the cellar: multiple expressions of Riesling, each carrying a distinct identity, alongside Gaia Cabernet Sauvignon, which keeps the range from narrowing into a single variety. These names have become part of the estate’s working language, with each bottle reflecting the same long attention to vineyard and cellar that has defined Grosset’s practice.
