The Path
Training at Santa Barbara City College gave Jennifer Jasinski a base to build from before she entered the pace of high-profile kitchens, where repetition, timing, and line discipline shape a cook fast. Early work at Rainbow Room in New York City, New York demanded stamina and attention under pressure; the next step, working under Wolfgang Puck at Wolfgang Puck restaurants in Los Angeles, California, pushed the technical side of the work further and narrowed the gap between sound fundamentals and sharper execution. Denver, Colorado became the place where that foundation turned into responsibility. As head chef at Panzano in Denver, Colorado (2000–2005), Jasinski moved from learning the line to directing it, with consistency and decision-making now part of the daily brief. The role marked a shift from operating inside someone else’s system to shaping one of her own, and it set the terms for the rest of her work. Ownership followed, and with it a broader kind of kitchen discipline: not just cooking, but sustaining a restaurant’s standards over time. Jennifer Jasinski became co-owner at Bistro Vendôme in Denver, Colorado (2006–2024), co-owner at Stoic & Genuine in Denver, Colorado (until 2024), and co-owner at Ultreia in Denver, Colorado (2017–2024). Today, Jennifer is co-owner of Rioja (since 2004) and co-owner of Euclid Hall Bar & Kitchen (since 2010), roles that place her inside Denver dining as both operator and steward.
The Work Today
At Rioja, Jennifer Jasinski works as Executive Chef and owner in a style built on clarity rather than excess. Fresh, local ingredients, simple flavor combinations, bright balanced preparations, and exacting culinary execution define the restaurant’s register. The approach depends on restraint: each component has to hold its place, and the plate has to read cleanly if it is going to carry the kind of precision her cooking is known for. Jasinski has described the core of the work in plain terms. “When I was young, I loved cooking for people and making them happy through food.” That holds up as a working description of the craft behind her restaurants: service, flavor, and the practical satisfaction of feeding people well. On training, she has said, “It gave me a great foundation of knowledge to move forward from.” In her case, that foundation became the basis for a career built on steadiness, repetition, and control.
In Their Words “It gave me a great foundation of knowledge to move forward from.” “When I was young, I loved cooking for people and making them happy through food.”
