John DeLuca

John De Luca was president of the San Francisco-based Wine Institute for nearly three decades, serving as a leading public advocate for the U.S. wine industry before retiring in 2003. He also served as a Deputy Mayor of San Francisco from 1968 to 1975 and later became Executive Vice Chair of the Wine Institute in 2003. A Wine Spectator feature notes that he helped protect the industry from tax increases, anti-alcohol campaigns, and direct-shipping disputes.
