The Path

Wine work often rewards people who already understand service, timing, and how small choices shape the final experience. Jon Leahy came into Becker Vineyards in Stonewall, United States from hospitality and resort management with that foundation already in place, then stepped into the winemaker role in 2012. The result was a stretch of work that ran through 2026, built on repetition, judgment, and the slow accumulation of cellar experience.

The Work Today

At Becker Vineyards, the job was to turn the pace of the seasons into finished wine for the Stonewall estate. Jon Leahy’s tenure was defined by that kind of practical discipline, where each cellar decision carried forward into the glass. Leahy Cuvée, a 2019 Merlot blend made in recognition of his contributions, sits inside that work as a clear example of what blending can do: bring a wine into focus through careful selection and measured judgment.

Signature

Leahy Cuvée is Jon’s named signature wine. The bottling places his name directly on the work, and that matters in winemaking: it ties recognition to the finished blend rather than to any separate story around it. In Their Words “Whatever anybody cooks for me and the bottle on the table is my favorite by far.” “The art then comes in with the blending.” The first line shows a straightforward approach to the table: wine is part of the meal, not a separate performance.
