José Vouillamoz

José Vouillamoz is a Swiss grape geneticist, botanist, and author from Saillon in Valais, Switzerland, known for his DNA-based research on the origin and parentage of grape varieties. He trained with Professor Carole Meredith at the University of California, Davis, after earning a biology degree and a doctorate focused on molecular cytotaxonomy and phylogeography of the genus Onosma. He co-authored Wine Grapes with Jancis Robinson MW and Julia Harding MW, a widely cited reference on cultivated grape varieties, and has served as a lecturer, educator, and consultant in wine and grape science.
