As president at Wines of Uruguay Exporter's Association (2005–2006), Juan Andrés Marichal worked in a role where wine had to be considered alongside commerce and sector advocacy. That broader view was matched by a long stretch of teaching at Gato Dumas - Colegio de Gastronomía (2007–2017), where winemaking and wine tasting were taught as skills to be read, judged, and repeated. Leadership and production ran in tandem over the next phase. The combination points to a career built on both oversight and hands-on responsibility, with policy and vintage needing to hold together. Since 2001, Juan has been director, winemaking and exports of Bodega Marichal, and since 2017 he has also been co-founder and director of Basta Spirit. Those roles place technical work, market reach, and company building in the same frame, with years of cellar experience carrying through into export and new venture development.

The Work Today

Balance is the clearest line in the current work.
