i. Biography
Julia Coney is an award-winning wine journalist, educator, speaker, and the founder of Black Wine Professionals based in Washington, D.C., and Houston, Texas. After transitioning from a career in legal administration and beauty blogging to wine journalism and consulting in 2016, she emerged as an influential industry advocate for diversity and equity. In recognition of her work, she was awarded Wine Enthusiast's Social Visionary Award in 2020 and named one of Wine Industry Network's Most Inspiring People in 2022.
