Julian P. Pappy Van Winkle was a distilling executive who served as co-founder and president of Stitzel-Weller Distillery in Shively. Prior to establishing Stitzel-Weller, he operated in Louisville as president and co-owner of W.L. Weller & Sons and secretary-treasurer and co-owner of A. Ph. Stitzel Distillery. He began his career in the industry as a traveling salesman in 1893.
