That combination places the work in both cellar and policy, where the business of Virginia wine gets shaped as much by practical decisions as by long-range direction. His own shorthand for the region is direct: “We consider ourselves DC’s wine country.”

The point is clear enough; Virginia is being positioned not as a peripheral market, but as part of a larger wine conversation. He is equally plain about the climate that frames the work: “This is Virginia, we have 30 to 40 inches of rain per year.”

Onyx Tannat, Bloodstone, and White Merlot mark the range of Kerem’s signature wines. Read together, they suggest a winemaker working across register: darker fruit and structure on one side, lift and brightness on the other.
