The Path

Service was the first training ground for Mark Warren. As a part-time waiter in a winery restaurant in the Swan Valley, he learned wine in the context of timing, table flow, and the way bottles are read in service. That early exposure moved his attention from hospitality into wine itself, with the glass becoming the object of study rather than the backdrop. Teaching brought that interest into a more technical register. At Curtin University, Margaret River campus in Margaret River, Mark Warren lectured in Wine Science and Advanced Sensory Evaluation, working in the language of aroma, structure, and sensory response. The classroom work sat alongside his earlier Biochemistry & Microbiology studies at UWA, giving his wine practice a scientific base that translated into taste. Career breadth followed from that foundation. Mark Warren’s path runs across production, consultation, and ownership, with roles that place him inside both established and emerging wineries. That mix of responsibilities shows a career built on applying technical knowledge in more than one setting.
