Training at Faculté d'Oenologie de Bordeaux put science at the center of Matthieu Arroyo’s method. That foundation shows in a career that reads as careful, measured, and alert to the mechanics behind the bottle. In 2022, he became Technical Director of Château d'Arche, a role he holds today. Within an established estate, the work is not to reset the style, but to refine the methods that carry it.

Today

The current brief is familiar to many cellar teams: hold a classic style steady while testing what the next tools can do. One of those trials is a glass barrel he names directly: > We are actually trying a “wineglobe,” which is a glass barrel that could result in less sulfites in our Sauternes. The point is clear enough. Old-world wine, a modern vessel, and a search for a more restrained expression of Sauternes. It is an experiment inside the house style, not outside it.

Signature

Matthieu's signature wines include L’Arche Perlée and A – Château d'Arche 2020. Read together, they show a technical range that moves between delicacy and structure, while remaining tied to Château d'Arche and its vocabulary of Sauternes.

Recognition
