The Path

Mattia Manferrari began in 2016 as a commercial-side staff member at Borgo del Tiglio in Brazzano, Collio, Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy, learning the rhythm and demands of the house from the inside. It was a practical beginning, grounded in the everyday workings of the estate, where service, communication, and the life of the cellar sit close together. In his case, leadership has grown out of familiarity rather than distance: from the vines, to the winery, to the commercial side, and then into responsibility for the whole. The progression feels less like a leap than a natural continuation of a life already woven into the estate’s fabric.

The Work Today

Since 2016, he has led Borgo del Tiglio as its winemaker and leader. The work joins cellar responsibility with estate leadership at a single address, rather than a career built across multiple venues. That concentration gives his role a particular clarity. Everything is held in one place: the daily decisions, the handling of the wines, the long view of the estate, and the practical realities that define a house like Borgo del Tiglio. The result is a working life that is intimate, exacting, and rooted in continuity.
