Mattia Vezzola

Mattia Vezzola trained at Conegliano. From there, the arc of his professional life does not wander so much as settle into focus, finding its center in Moniga del Garda and in the patient discipline of the house he has made his own.

He works as winemaker there, carrying forward a family story that begins, in his own telling, in 1928. In that sentence, the vineyard becomes more than a site of production. It becomes a place where respect is practiced daily, where wisdom is not abstract but etched into routine, and where the responsibility of making wine is the responsibility of inheritance.

Mattia's signature wines include Rosamara, Maim, Molmenti 2015, and Mattia Vezzola 'Cremant Metodo Classico'. Together, they sketch a style that is anchored in continuity yet attentive to nuance, each name carrying the imprint of a specific idea within the larger life of Costaripa.

The measure he gives for Valtenesi is direct and grounded in change that can be felt as much as counted: “In Valtenesi, we’ve doubled the production and the quality of the product has greatly increased.” Yet even as he marks that progress, he keeps one eye on the scale of the past, setting his ambition against the memory of what once was: “my dream is to go back to the 1,500 there were in the 1970s.” In that contrast lies the essence of his outlook — expansion without forgetting, progress without severing the line that connects present work to older vines, older hands, and older numbers still alive in the imagination.
