The Work Today

Harvest work is where the practical education gathers weight, and since 2005 Twain-Peterson has moved through it in multiple regions. He worked as a harvest worker at Ravenswood Winery in California, then as a harvest worker at Hardy’s facility of Tintara in Australia, a harvest worker at Noon Wine Cellars in Australia, and a harvest worker at Chateau Lynch Bages in Bordeaux. Taken together, those placements map a working knowledge built season by season, under different site conditions and cellar demands. The result is a career grounded in repetition, comparison, and the discipline of doing the same essential work in different places. Bedrock Wine Co. has been his home base since 2007, and owner/winemaker is the position where the various parts of that background converge. Ownership brings the long view; winemaking brings the day-to-day decisions. In practice, that means holding vineyard and cellar together while keeping each vintage answerable to the fruit in front of it. Twain-Peterson’s earlier harvest labor is part of that structure, not as anecdote but as working knowledge.

Signature

Morgan's signature wines include Vino Bambino, 2024 A Buffalo in Montana, aka Ode to Joel Zinfandel, and Bedrock Heritage Sonoma Valley 2016. The set shows range without leaving the lane: one label with a lighter touch, one that carries an explicit dedication, and one that leans into heritage and site. Across them, Zinfandel remains the throughline, with the naming doing as much work as the blend in signaling homage, place, and intent.

In Their Words “Each year we make a wine that we feel is the single best expression of Zinfandel we can put together based on the lots in the winery—an homage to my father, Joel Peterson.” The sentence describes a selection process rather than a fixed formula. It points to yearly assessment, lot-by-lot comparison, and the use of the winery as a place of sorting and judgment, with family named plainly as part of the wine’s frame of reference. “Our hope and belief is that they will age as wonderfully as the great old Ravenswood wines my dad made.” Ageability is the standard being set here. The goal is not only immediate release, but wines that hold through time, with the older Ravenswood bottles functioning as the reference point for what endurance should look like.
