    i. Biography

    Muhammad Abdul-Hadi is a Philadelphia restaurateur, founder and owner of Down North Pizza in Strawberry Mansion, a mission-driven restaurant that hires formerly incarcerated people. He is also the founder of North Star Collective and the Down North Foundation, and he opened Out West Café in West Philadelphia in 2025. He received a James Beard Leadership Award and is the author of We the Pizza: Slangin’ Pies and Savin’ Lives, published in 2025.
