    i. Biography

Wine category work demands fluency in both product and market, and Nina Jansson’s route into the trade was built on that technical base. Helia / Helsinki Business Polytechnic, Turku vocational institute, and the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (2006) gave her the formal grounding needed for a role where detail, timing, and assortment decisions carry weight across the category. At Wennerco, Nina Jansson held the role of Brand Manager, wines (2004–2014), a decade that would have required consistency as well as quick readjustment while the category moved around her. She then moved into Partner Director at Altia Plc (2014–2017), before taking on Category Director Wine Finland, estonia and latvia at Altia Plc (2018–2019), where the work sat across three markets at once. From there she joined Vins Philippe Dandurand Wines as National Brand Manager (2019–2020), returned to Altia Plc as Senior Brand Manager (2020–2021), and since 2021 has served as Category Director Wine of Brukett Oy. Across those roles, the through-line is category literacy: brand-level execution, regional oversight, and the ability to track how demand shifts from one market to the next. Jansson’s career reads as steady accumulation inside the wine trade rather than a single jump, with each post adding another layer of market judgment. Today Current wine category work is often less about grand gestures than about reading small changes before they harden into wider demand. Nina Jansson points to white wines as an area still gaining ground, with Riesling remaining a durable reference point while Grüner Veltliner continues to build attention. Format is part of that same shift. Nina Jansson notes that responsible drinking is now a visible market driver, and that the demand shows up in low-alcohol wines and smaller bottles. For the trade, that means the category is being shaped not only by grape and style, but by how people want to drink, and how much they want in the bottle.

In Their Words “Also the popularity of white wines is growing. Perhaps the perennial favorite Riesling will get new challengers, as Grüner Veltliner is increasingly in demand.” “Responsible drinking interests people. It is reflected in the sales of low-alcohol wines and smaller bottles.”
