In Ollie Gold’s case, that groundwork started in a family kitchen, where cooking with his mum gave him the first practical education in food and the habits that later carried into hospitality and business. University of Leeds provided the formal base for that next stage. From there, the work moved from domestic practice into the more structured demands of trade, where sharp taste, discipline and instinct start to matter as much as familiarity with food itself. In 2017, Gold founded Pophams. That date marks the shift from interest to enterprise, when an early connection to cooking became a defined piece of professional practice.
