Coming Up

The early discipline came at Château de Targe in Saumur Champigny, where Pierre Seillan worked for the Pisani-Ferry family from 1977 to 1979. That first post placed vineyard and cellar work on equal footing: daily repetition, careful observation, and the habit of treating detail as a basic tool of the trade. From there, his scope widened across regions and continents, but the underlying principle stayed fixed — site first, then the winemaking that follows it. Today, Pierre directs winemaking of Vérité since 1998, supervises viticulture and winemaking of Tenuta di Arceno since 2002, and directs viticulture and winemaking of Château Lassègue since 2003. The three roles point to the same aim: wines that register as specific, rooted, and tied to place.

Where They Are Now

At Tenuta di Arceno in Tuscany, Pierre Seillan supervises viticulture and winemaking, a role he began in 2002. Since 2003, he has directed viticulture and winemaking at Château Lassègue in Saint-Émilion, Bordeaux. The work spans different sites and traditions, but the method remains consistent: keep the vineyard legible, keep the wine clear. In his own words, “I am a servant of the soil.” That line captures the register of the work — practical, exacting, and built around the idea that the vineyard should lead. He frames the same approach another way: “The pure expression of each unique site has, from the beginning, defined my micro-cru philosophy.”

Signature

Pierre Seillan's signature wines include La Muse, La Joie, Le Désir, Anakota Cabernet, and Arcanum. The range shows a method built on precision and on reading each site for what it can carry, not on repeating a single formula across them.

Honors

The named career distinctions are his current vigneron role in Healdsburg and his continuing direction of viticulture and winemaking across Sonoma County, Tuscany, and Saint-Émilion.
