In Robin Rapet’s early role as a worker at Laplace, the craft was learned through repeated tasks, close observation, and the physical cadence of winery work.A full-time family winery role at Domaine Rapet Père & Fils, held with Vincent Rapet since 2021, combines execution with stewardship. In Pernand-Vergelesses, France, the work is seasonal and exacting: weather, fruit condition, cellar timing, and estate identity all have to be read together. Robin Rapet’s position sits within that inheritance, where each vintage is handled on its own terms without detaching it from the domaine’s line.

Vintage assessment at the estate is framed through weather and consequence. Robin Rapet described 2022 by naming the rainfall that changed the pressure of the season: “We had 60mm of rain in June which, with another small episode in August, helped us to get through to the harvest without too much stress, given the heat and dry conditions.” For a working producer, the useful information is timing: when relief arrived, what conditions it moderated, and how that affected the approach to harvest. Fruit profile is read by comparison rather than in isolation. Robin Rapet’s note — “We are more classically red-fruited in 22 vs the darker fruits of 2020 – I think much more balanced too” — uses vintage contrast to define the wine: 2022 against 2020, red-fruited against darker fruit, balance as the practical measure.
