    i. Biography

    Soenil Bahadoer is a Suriname-born, Hindoestaanse chef who became owner and chef-patron of De Lindehof in Nuenen in 1995, a restaurant that earned its first Michelin star in 2004 and its second in 2014. In January 2025, he announced that De Lindehof would close on 1 May 2025 after 30 years under his leadership, and he said he would open a new restaurant, GEM, in the former gatehouse of Kasteel Gemert in Gemert. He is widely associated with a cuisine that blends Dutch-French cooking with Surinamese-Hindoestaanse influences and vadouvan-forward seasoning.
