i. Biography
Cocktail work sits between service, authorship, and repeatable method. In Stanislav Harcin’s case, that field runs through Slovakia’s bars, Head Bartender responsibility at Mirror Cocktail Bar at the Carlton Hotel in Bratislava, and the publishing work of The Cocktail Balance. The through-line is not a move away from the bar, but a widening of the bar’s tools: proportion, memory, technique, hospitality, and the written record.
The Path
Bar progression from barback to Head Bartender is built on repetition before authority. In Stanislav Harcin’s early work, that meant the base grammar of the station: ice, glassware, citrus, measure, timing, and welcome. The move to Head Bartender at Mirror Cocktail Bar, Carlton Hotel, Bratislava, placed that discipline inside a room where precision and presence had to hold through service. Hotel bar work requires control without stiffness. Arrivals, departures, regulars, and travelers all change the tempo of a shift, and the bartender has to judge when to explain, when to listen, and when the drink should carry the exchange. The same trade attention later moved into industry language through Stanislav Harcin’s role as Content Director at Bar Magazine-Thinking and Drinking in Slovakia, where drinks, bartending, and bar culture were handled as subjects for publication. Committee member work at Tales of the Cocktail placed that practice inside a wider professional conversation without separating it from the craft. Authorship and ambassadorship extend the bar when they preserve method rather than replace service. As founder and author of the books of The Cocktail Balance and Global Ambassador of Mirror Bar, Stanislav Harcin works with cocktails as material for research, communication, and passing on knowledge. The title The Cocktail Balance points to proportion and structure, but also to the working balance between heritage and modern service, technical clarity and guest experience.
The Work Today
Generation shows the bar’s sensory direction through a fizzy build with Bombay Sapphire Premier Cru Gin, aloe vera, lemon myrtle, and tonic. The structure reads through contrast: gin as the botanical base, aloe vera for cooling softness, lemon myrtle for a citrus-green aromatic edge, and tonic for clean lift. The drink’s balance comes from keeping those lines distinct while making them meet in the glass. Version 2.0 is in progress. In trade terms, that means the work remains under edit: tested, adjusted, reconsidered, and shared rather than treated as fixed.
Signature
Signature, in this practice, covers both the drink and the published framework. Generation belongs to the glass; The Cocktail Balance belongs to the authored body of work. With Stanislav Harcin, those two names mark the same concern from different stations: how a cocktail is structured, served, explained, and kept available for others to study.
In Their Words “I am happy that the donors have chosen the option of donating the book to the students. I think the release of the book was timed very well. Version 2.0 is in progress. I originally thought it would be a book in English.”
Acclaim
Stanislav Harcin has received The Bar World 100, 41st most influential figure in the industry. Industry recognition lists Stanislav Harcin as 41st most influential figure in the industry. The accolade sits alongside the working record: Slovak bartender, author, founder, ambassador, and former barback whose path connects service, documentation, education, and representation while remaining anchored in cocktail craft.
