Working alongside his father at Domaine Michel Briday from 1983–1984 gave Stéphane Briday an early grounding in the estate’s own pace. That period was an apprenticeship in the daily demands of a domaine: vineyard work, cellar routine, and the discipline required when each decision is tied to the land and the season. The training came from inside the property, through repetition and observation, not from the outside. Since 1988, Stéphane Briday has been the winemaker and proprietor of Domaine Michel Briday, carrying forward a practice shaped by years spent in the vines and the cellar. In Rully, that continuity matters. It points to a working knowledge built through repeated vintages, where technique and place stay in constant conversation.

Where They Are Now

Since 1988, he has led Domaine Michel Briday in Rully as winemaker and proprietor. His own words set the scale of that commitment: “I take a lot of pleasure in my work. I am 200% a winemaker.” The line is plain, and it frames the work in practical terms: the vineyard rows, the cellar, and the rhythm imposed by fruit and finished wine.

Signature

Stéphane's signature wines include Rully Blanc, Rully Rouge AOC, and Rully Blanc “Les Cloux” 1er Cru AOC. Taken together, they show the range of his work at Domaine Michel Briday, from white to red and then to the more specific register of a 1er Cru. The cuvée names anchor the wines in Rully and in the domaine’s own way of working.
