The Philosophy Born in Louisiana, Barriere carries a sense that recipes do not arrive empty-handed. Her stated belief is precise: every recipe carries a lineage, and every pour has a story worth telling. That idea gives her work its center of gravity, turning technique toward history, culture, emotion, and personal memory rather than treating a drink as a closed object. In Practice Before her current role with the awards program, Barriere built her career behind bars and in beverage leadership. She worked as a bartender at LongHorn Steakhouse and Applebee’s, roles that placed the fundamentals of service, timing, and guest connection at the center of the job. From 2009 to 2016, she was beverage director at One Flew South in Atlanta. That seven-year stretch gives a dated point in her career, linking her name to a specific venue and city while marking the move from bartending roles into a director-level beverage position. Recognition followed in the form of Women of Whiskey Bartender of the Year, an honor that names both her bar work and her place within whiskey-focused hospitality. Her current appointment as U.S. Co-Chair of the Tales of the Cocktail Spirited Awards connects that experience to one of the drinks industry’s major awards platforms, where judgment and storytelling meet in public recognition.
