Formation
Napa Valley consulting work in 1980 placed Tony Soter inside a formative period for American estate winemaking. Chappellet, Shafer, Spottswoode, and Dalla Valle were among the estates tied to his early work, where the role demanded judgment across vineyard source, cellar execution, and finished wine identity. Etude, founded by Soter in 1980 and run by him until 2001, gave that work a dedicated label.
