Since 1979, Valter Bera has been winemaker at Bera, and the work shows what long stewardship can do when it is treated as an instrument of style. Across decades, the house has been held to continuity without being frozen, with time folded into the way the wines read in the glass. At Bera, the family name still points to a working craft, grounded in place and sustained over years.

Today

The estate works from a traditional grower ethos, with decisions set by family practice rather than departure from it. In the cellar, production uses controlled steel tanks, while some wines spend time in large casks and, to a lesser extent, oak barriques. The method is measured and practical, and it stays close to the identity of the property. “We are a farm, so a bit atypical for that denomination.” The line frames the estate plainly: agricultural first, with the scale of a family operation still shaping the work. “We mainly produce Moscato d'Asti, which is a product instead identified with small wine estates and families.” In that view, Bera is defined by farm rhythm, family continuity, and a wine culture that still rewards intimacy of scale.

Signature

Valter's signature wines include Alladio Langhe Nebbiolo 1998, Piemonte Brachetto DOC 2023, Barbaresco Rabajà Riserva, Sassisto Langhe rosso, and Barbaresco. Read together, they show a range that moves from lift and freshness to depth and weight, while remaining tied to the same estate and the same working hand.
