Vincenzo Mercurio

Today, Vincenzo Mercurio is wine consultant and winemaker of Cantine di Marzo. The work asks for more than technical control: it asks for a reading of landscape, season, and place, then for a cellar practice that does not flatten what the vineyard has already said. In Mercurio’s hands, winemaking is an exercise in interpretation, with discipline applied where it serves clarity and restraint used where it protects character.

Mercurio’s philosophy is organized around identity. The best wines, in his view, are those able to tell their origins, and that principle shapes both his consulting and his winemaking. He describes winemaking protocols as something closer to a tailor-made suit than a fixed template: made to fit the wine, attentive to its lines, and never meant to cover up what is already there. Technique matters, but only insofar as it gives room for personality to remain legible.

That same approach applies in the vineyard. Mercurio has said that organic farming is not just a protocol but a way of life, a line that places practice ahead of rhetoric. The point is straightforward: respect for the land, patience with variation, and a belief that authenticity begins well before bottling. Vincenzo's signature wines include Vigna Ortale, Vigna Laure, Vigna Serrone, and Le Ali di Mercurio. Together they show a style built on clarity, identity, and a readable sense of origin. The names themselves point to place and distinction, one parcel or expression set against another without excess framing. In Mercurio’s work, signature means fidelity to what the wine already is.

Vincenzo's honors include Best Winemaker of Italy (2025) and Oscar del Vino "Premio Giacomo Tachis" (2022). The awards sit alongside a practice defined by precision and by a steady preference for wines that keep their link to origin clear. He has been working with the estate since 2016 on a zoning project and on wines such as Greco di Tufo.
