The cellar is built into a historic family estate without theatrical force: large Slavonian oak casks, an understated new cellar, and hillside vineyard views that keep the room visually tied to Bussia. The atmosphere is quiet. That matters in a winery where the principal gestures are slow ones, macerating, aging, tasting, waiting. The tasting room does not need to pull the work away from the cellar; the casks already state the method. In Monforte d'Alba, the house reads as a working farm before it reads as a destination, with the vines close enough to keep every glass from becoming abstract. Fenocchio's next move is the next vintage through the same sequence of farming, maceration, and cask.
