Founded in 2015 by Chris Barish as a 15-seat counter in New York City, the brand built its reputation on scale and spectacle: towering milkshakes stacked with toppings, half-pound Wagyu patties, and a format engineered as much for social media as for the table.</p> <p>The Miami location made a credible attempt at local relevance. The Frita Cubana burger, built with sofrito butter and shoestring fries, acknowledged the city's Cuban culinary heritage directly, while a key lime pie shake developed in partnership with Fireman Derek's Bake Shop gave the menu a regional anchor beyond the national lineup. The core burger roster included the Champ, a half-pound Wagyu with buttermilk-dill sauce and blue cheese, and the Texan, layered with bacon, aged cheddar, and crisp onion rings. Griddling rather than grilling is a deliberate brand position, producing a crust and fat retention that distinguishes the patties from most fast-casual competitors.</p> <p>The Brickell run was brief. The location closed within a year of opening and has since been removed from the company's website, with the 701 S Miami Ave address no longer operational. Black Tap operates active locations in other markets, so the brand itself continues, but the Miami chapter ended quickly and without a announced replacement site.</p>
