Desert Wind Winery

The visitor setting is central to Desert Wind Winery: a spacious wine bar, a barrel room, cozy couches inside, and a large, pet-friendly, umbrella-shaded patio with sunset and river views outside. In Prosser, the winery presents estate-grown Washington wines in a tasting-room setting with both indoor and outdoor space.

Wahluke Slope fruit gives the wines their estate focus

Desert Wind Winery works from estate vineyards on the Wahluke Slope and Yakima Valley, with Desert Wind Vineyard at the foot of the Saddle Mountains in the Wahluke Slope AVA providing most of the fruit used to make Desert Wind wines. especially abundant plantings are Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot and Syrah, with smaller amounts of Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot, Tempranillo, Mourvèdre and Carménère.

The first vines were planted in 1993, and the vineyard now has 415 planted acres. Led by winemaker and viticulturist Matías Kúsulas, Desert Wind Winery is highly regarded for structured, full-bodied red wines reflective of the distinct terroir of eastern Washington. The wines are handcrafted using small lots of fruit from estate vineyards on the Wahluke Slope and Yakima Valley, blending classic winemaking techniques with extended barrel aging to create food-friendly wines.

Desert Wind was founded in 2003 as a Washington wine brand with a legacy rooted in crafting generous, fruit-forward wines from estate vineyards. On site, visitors can find a selection of Desert Wind wines alongside an introduction to Gård’s estate-grown portfolio.
