Nine Orchard

The Jarmulowsky Bank opened on Orchard Street in 1912. Nine Orchard has restored the Lower East Side landmark as a hotel, keeping its Neo-Renaissance character visible in the spaces guests use today. Its food and drink program occupies the first floor rather than sitting apart from the building.

Two rooms within the restoration

Corner Bar is the hotel’s all-day restaurant, with bistro dishes and a tavern-inspired atmosphere. Swan Room occupies the former bank teller room. Its vaulted ceiling, booths and pink Tennessee marble walls provide a more ceremonial setting for cocktails and small plates. The contrast between the two rooms makes the restoration tangible: one is a neighborhood dining room, the other a lounge built around the bank’s original grandeur.

Hospitality beyond the dining rooms

The hotel also offers room service and three event spaces. Guests can use Corner Bar for a meal, move to Swan Room for a drink, or stay upstairs in one of the restored building’s rooms. Nine Orchard’s distinctive work is the reuse of the bank itself, with contemporary hospitality fitted into its historic rooms.
