The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon was 94% Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot, aged 28 months in 100% new Taransaud French oak barrels. The 2014 Proprietary Red Estate moved differently: 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 24% Merlot, and 6% Petit Verdot, aged 17 months in 85% new French oak. Those figures show a Napa idiom built on structure, oak integration, and Bordeaux-variety calibration rather than a broad tasting-room lineup.

Power, ripeness, and the modern Napa register

The alcohol arc is revealing. Older Roy Estate wines were typically around 14% alcohol; contemporary bottlings are typically 15 to 15.5%. The low yield of 2008 fits: vineyard scarcity translated into a concentrated estate wine.
