i. Biography
Alec Gropman is an American chef and restaurateur based in Charleston, South Carolina, where he serves as Partner and Director of Culinary Operations for Uptown Hospitality Group. After graduating from The Culinary Institute of America in 2017, he helped open Uptown Social before launching the New York deli–inspired concept Bodega in 2020. Gropman was recognized with a StarChefs Rising Stars Award in 2024 for his culinary leadership and expansion of Bodega across the Charleston area.
