The Work Today

Pinot Noir sits at the center of Orrego’s current practice at Kingston Family Vineyards in Casablanca and Benton-Lane Winery in Monroe, Oregon. Working in both Chile and Oregon gives that focus range without diluting it. The repetition across estates is part of the point: a single grape, refined through steady work in different conditions, with no need for excess. The role of winemaker leaves little room for vagueness. It asks for timing, judgment, and patience, and Orrego’s current positions place him in that work on both sides of the continent. The result is a career built around depth rather than sprawl, with Pinot Noir as the clearest expression of where he has chosen to concentrate.

Amael's signature wines include Alazan Pinot Noir, Tobiano Pinot Noir, Sabino Chardonnay, Bayo Oscuro Syrah, and Lucero Syrah. The set keeps Pinot Noir in the lead while widening the frame to include Chardonnay and Syrah. Read together, the wines show a maker working with a focused palette rather than a scattered one, with each label carrying the same expectation of precision.
