i. Biography
Born in June 1990, Andrea Farinetti entered a winegrowing context already shaped by cellar and vineyard rhythms. The career that followed was built in sequence: production, sales, then ownership, with the same estate name running through each stage as both workplace and responsibility.
The Climb
Training at School of Enology in Alba gave Andrea Farinetti the technical base for a career in wine, where method matters as much as instinct. The setting matters too: Alba’s long association with Barolo is the sort of environment that rewards precision, patience, and an ordinary respect for how wine is actually made. From 2010, work in production and sales at Borgogno placed Andrea Farinetti inside the daily operating reality of the house. That kind of experience is cumulative. It teaches process from repetition, keeps the market in view alongside the cellar, and builds the steadiness needed to understand a winery as a working system rather than a label or an idea. Ownership of Giacomo Borgogno & Figli now brings that earlier work into direct use. Andrea Farinetti’s progression is straightforward: each step answered to the one before it, and the result is a role shaped by familiarity with the estate’s demands.
Today
As winemaker at the Barolo estate, Andrea Farinetti works at the point where cellar decisions and estate continuity meet. The job is technical, but not only technical. Every choice sits inside a history that has to be carried without flattening it, and that balance between precision and inheritance gives the role its weight.
Signature
No Name and Colli Tortonesi Timorasso DOC Derthona 2021 are listed among Andrea Farinetti’s signature wines. Read together, they point to a winemaker working with clarity of intent, making wines expected to stand on their own terms.
In Their Words “I think the most important is to increasingly work with respect for the environment and future generations in order to leave things better than when we found them.”
