i. Biography
Bernard Magrez is the owner of Château Pape Clément, a Grand Cru Classé in Graves, which he acquired in the 1980s as his first major wine estate purchase. He subsequently acquired Château Fombrauge (Saint-Émilion Grand Cru Classé), Château La Tour Carnet (Haut-Médoc Grand Cru Classé since 1855), and Clos Haut-Peyraguey (Sauternes Premier Grand Cru Classé), becoming the only individual to own four such prestigious Bordeaux estates simultaneously. Magrez expanded globally, owning 42 wine estates across eight countries including Spain, Portugal, Argentina, and the USA, spanning over 1,000 hectares. He pioneered wine tourism through Bernard Magrez Luxury Wine Experience and initiatives like the Bordeaux 2050 project at Château La Tour Carnet to combat climate change.
