    i. Biography

    Cándido García Cruz was a lifelong agave farmer and distiller from Miahuatlán, Oaxaca, whose spirits were selected by NETA. Born in 1955, he worked through the final years of local prohibition and became known for judging final alcohol adjustments by aroma and the appearance of the distillate’s bubbles. NETA records that he died in 2025.
