Cecil Burke Day was an American hotelier and founder of Days Inn, which he launched in 1970 with the first property on Tybee Island, Georgia., he was serving as chairman of Days Inns of America, and the brand had expanded to 22,000 rooms nationwide. He was raised in Georgia, studied at Mercer University and later Georgia Tech, and died of cancer at age 44.
