Dr. Cynthia R. Greenlee is a North Carolina-based historian, journalist, and editor whose writing has appeared in The Atlantic, The New York Times, Smithsonian, Vox, Essence, and The Nation. She earned a master’s degree in journalism from the University of North Carolina and a PhD in history from Duke University, and she won the James Beard Foundation Award for food writing in 2020.
